The children can have either milk or water at snack/meal times and water is available in all the classrooms throughout the day. We grow our own fruit and vegetables which include potatoes, carrots, raspberries and herbs. We have an apple tree and a very prolific plum tree. The children enjoy baking using our fruit and vegetables. Sometimes they even make their own dinner such as soup a vegetable pizza or a plum crumble.
We regard meals and snacks at Parkfield as an opportunity to interact socially and as such the children and staff all sit down together to eat
If your child has any allergies or intolerance's to some types of foods, please ensure you tell you tell us at nursery and we will be able to provide for each child s individual needs.
Have Fun with Food
A great way of getting your child to enjoy meals and snacks is by making them seem fun! Try cutting up fruit into a smiley face or anything else your child enjoys. This will give them an extra incentive to eat the nutritious food and stay healthy. There are plenty of ways you can get your child to have fun with food, even if it s just the classic airplane spoon! Just be creative.
It is just as important for your child to have a balanced diet at home. Life can get very busy so finding nutritious meals that are easy to make and that your child will love can be challenging. If you are having trouble trying to find meals that contributes to a balanced diet check out the Change 4 Life
