What is Early Years?
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a curriculum followed by all OFSTED registered childcare settings. It aims to support the learning and development of children aged 0-5.
Each Early Years setting follows a curriculum to help your child reach milestones. Our practitioners are trained to the highest standard to help your child learn through play-based activities.
Additionally, your child will also learn about routine and developing early literacy and maths skills, alongside social skills.
Communication & Language Learning how to communicate with those around your child is essential in their development. In the early years, your child will learn to listen and pay attention, as well as learning how to understand and respond to others. This is in the form of nursery rhymes, songs, sharing stories and conversation.
By the time your child is ready for school, they will have developed their confidence and expression.
Physical Development Physical development is essential for your child to have a healthy lifestyle. This is all about being active and interactive, which we do by helping your child develop fine and gross motor skills. In doing so, this will encourage independence and help your child complete daily tasks.
At nursery, your child will be given endless opportunities to partake in physical activities and develop their fine motor skills.
Social & Emotional Development The Physical and Mental wellbeing of your child is important. We encourage your child to gain self-confidence and awareness, so they can have relationships with others and healthily manage their emotions. We achieve this through children’s individual needs and interests.
Understanding the World Understanding the world helps your child to understand everything around them. They will look at different cultures, people and their communities.
At Parkfield Nursery, we encourage children to explore different places and environments by taking them out into the community or inviting visitors into nursery.
Expressive Arts Imagination and creativity are explored and developed through expressive arts. With different media and materials, your child will create their own artwork.
Furthermore, their imagination, own thought and opinions are essential in creativity.
